Plymouth, MA

Picnic by the pier
Notice the little pirate ship coming in on the right. It looks like some high school kids converted their boat and raised the Jolly Roger. The girls wanted to go for the pirate cruise they were advertising. We opted for the history tour.

The rock.

According to the sign this is 1/3 of the rock. The rest is under water. It's thought to be the landing point of the Mayflower.

The Grist Mill
It's a replica of the one the pilgrims built on the site.

Corny girls!

The water wheel that drives the mill.

Inside the mill. These are the grinding stones. The upright one is flipped horizontal and lowered into place with the wooden crane.
It still operates one day a week.

The inside of the water wheel. The corn is ground and comes down the chute to Ali's left. Then it is sifted and separated by coarseness.

Sifting corn. We learned all about how they grind and separate the different parts of the corn, including the grits and chicken feed.
